Following the development of the business case ‘Modernising Local Government in Buckinghamshire’ in 2016, the Government announced in March 2019 the decision to abolish the County Council and the four District Councils and establish a brand new, county wide single unitary council for Buckinghamshire. Here is the new website for the Shadow Authority.

From April 2020, Buckinghamshire residents will be served by a brand new unitary council - Buckinghamshire Council. This new form of local government which builds upon the strong track record of the four District Councils and the County Council comes into Shadow existence in early June and the Shadow Executive is now focused on recruiting a new Chief Executive to lead the brand new unitary council. Here are the statutory guidelines.

The Shadow Executive are clear that the key focus for the chief executive will be to create the vision and culture for the new organisation, providing strong leadership and bringing about the ambitions of the business case for the unitary council, through delivering the transformation and cultural change required.
